Outdoor Power Station Demonstration Yields Stellar Results; UtmoLight Garners Prestigious Perovskite Industry Award

On March 26, the Perovskite and Tandem Cell Module Industrialization Technology Conference, jointly organized by PV Insights and the Changzhou Photovoltaic Industry Association, concluded successfully in Suzhou, Jiangsu. As a global leader in the perovskite industry, UtmoLight was invited to participate. Zheng Ce, Co-founder and Vice President of the company, delivered a keynote speech titled "Technological Advances in Perovskite Photovoltaic Modules," sharing UtmoLight’s breakthroughs in module efficiency, stability, and commercialization, which garnered significant industry attention.

At the conference, UtmoLight’s outdoor power station demonstration results drew widespread attention. As is well known, stability has long been a critical factor hindering the commercialization of perovskite photovoltaic technology. Over the years, UtmoLight has conducted systematic field tests across multiple climate zones through self-built and third-party collaborative outdoor demonstration power stations, thoroughly validating the long-term stability of perovskite technology. 

 

Data shows that UtmoLight’s self-built outdoor demonstration power station has been operating for over 18 months with almost no power degradation in the modules. Meanwhile, the third-party demonstration power station (Yinchuan base) in collaboration with the National PV Quality Inspection Center (CPVT) has been running continuously for over 8 months, exhibiting highly stable power generation data.

01 Multi-Climate Demonstration Reveals Technological Advantages 

 Outstanding Performance in High-Temperature and Low-Light Conditions 

 

To verify the adaptability of perovskite modules in different environments, UtmoLight conducted demonstrations in many places such as Wuxi (subtropical monsoon climate) and Yinchuan (mid-temperate arid climate). Comparative data highlights perovskite modules’ superior power generation performance in complex conditions such as high temperatures, low light, and extreme temperature variations: 


High-Temperature Scenarioses 

During the hottest summer days in Wuxi, UtmoLight conducted comparative tests on photovoltaic arrays equipped with perovskite and crystalline silicon modules of the same installed capacity. Results showed that perovskite modules had a much lower power temperature coefficient than crystalline silicon modules, the efficiency of perovskite modules did not decline significantly due to the rise in operating conditions and module temperature. On average, perovskite modules generated 15% more power than crystalline silicon, demonstrating stronger high-temperature power generation capability.

Low-Light Scenarioses 

During foggy, windy, and rainy seasons in Wuxi, comparative tests were conducted under low irradiance (≤1 kWh/m² per day). Data revealed that perovskite modules generated 30% more daily watt-hours per unit than crystalline silicon modules in heavy fog. During the rainy season, UtmoLight’s perovskite modules also showed a 27.1% average power generation gain over crystalline silicon. During the periods of heavy fog, strong wind and plum rain in Wuxi, Utmolight conducted a field comparison test on photovoltaic arrays equipped with perovskite modules and crystalline silicon modules of the same installed capacity. The data shows that on foggy days with daily irradiation not exceeding 1 KWH/㎡, perovskite modules generate 30% more power per unit area per day than crystalline silicon modules. During the plum rain season, the power generation of Utmolights' perovskite modules was also significantly higher than that of crystalline silicon modules, with an average power generation increase of 27.1%.

Extreme Temperature Variations 

According to a report by Dr. Wang Bingnan, CPVT’s Chief Technology Officer, titled "Performance Study of Perovskite Modules Under Standardized Outdoor Demonstration Conditions,"’ the third-party test power station in YinChuan (where the temperature difference between day and night exceeds 20℃)  jointly operated by UtmoLight and CPVT has been running steadily and smoothly without any decline. The system efficiency PR has remained above 90%, and the power generation in the third quarter has increased by 11.85% to 16.14% compared with crystalline silicon.

02 Refining Product Capabilities Through Long-Term Commitment 

 Accelerating the Commercialization of Perovskite Technology 

 

The extensive and reliable stability validation data is supported by UtmoLight’s comprehensive and authoritative verification system. Covering both indoor and outdoor testing, UtmoLight has established "three-dimensional integration" all-round modules stability verification system, integrating IEC, ISOS, and outdoor demonstration standards, ensuring continuous validation while enhancing long-term module stability. 

- Indoor Testing: UtmoLight’s perovskite modules have passed the rigorous IEC 61215/IEC 61730 certification tests. And in accordance with the relevant testing standards of ISOS, it has passed the "light and heat" accelerated aging test of 1 Sun/85°C/1000h, as well as the UV accelerated aging test of 200KWh.

- Outdoor Testing: With the world’s first GW-scale mass production line in operation, UtmoLight is actively promoting larger-area perovskite modules for third-party demonstrations in diverse climates and scenarioses. 

 

Based on increasingly robust demonstration data, UtmoLight will further drive the large-scale application of perovskite modules, advancing the commercialization of perovskite technology to new heights. 

Thanks to its world-leading outdoor demonstration achievements, UtmoLight was honored with the "Outdoor Power Station Stability Award" at the conference, becoming the only company to receive this accolade for 2024-2025.
